The Starbucks Foundation supports Typhoon Yagi relief efforts in Thailand and Vietnam

In response to Typhoon Yagi, a devastating storm that struck southern China and Southeast Asia, and its aftermath, The Starbucks Foundation has partnered with nonprofit organizations Planet Water Foundation and CARE to provide clean water access and other emergency response and recovery support to impacted communities.
Through this support, Planet Water Foundation deployed AquaTower water filtration systems to provide clean, safe drinking water access in Yen Bai province in Vietnam, and Chiang Rai province in Thailand. These systems produce 1,000 liters of safe drinking water per hour, providing impacted community members with safe water for drinking, cooking, and other essential uses.
Starbucks has partnered with Planet Water Foundation since 2011 to provide clean water access and hygiene programs to communities around the world. Through this long-term partnership supported by The Starbucks Foundation, 70 AquaTowers have been constructed globally, including in seven markets across Asia Pacific, providing up to 126,000 people with access to clean water.
CARE is working to address the most urgent needs of families and individuals in impacted communities. CARE’s response is focused on rapid assessment and mobilization, emergency water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and social protection, including humanitarian cash transfers. CARE is also ensuring that the voices and needs of women and girls are taken to account, and is prepared to support medium and long-term recovery. The response also includes supporting locally affected communities to restore their shelters and livelihood activities.
CARE and The Starbucks Foundation are also supporting a project to promote sustainable and resilient livelihoods for women coffee producers in Vietnam’s Son La Province, as part of The Starbucks Foundation’s goal to reach 1 million women in coffee, tea and cocoa-growing communities by 2030.

Starbucks unveiled its largest Greener Store and fourth flagship location in Thailand at One Bangkok on Tuesday, October 29, marking a key step in its market expansion and sustainability efforts. Certified as a Greener Store, this location adheres to strict environmental standards in water conservation, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible materials. With a goal of certifying 10,000 Greener Stores globally by 2025, the brand aims to achieve its goal of reducing carbon emissions, water usage, and landfill waste by 50% by 2030.
On this Global Handwashing Day, an international moment dedicated to increasing awareness and education on the importance of personal hygiene to prevent diseases and save lives, Starbucks has partnered with Planet Water Foundation, a non-profit organization, to provide clean water access and hygiene programs to communities worldwide.
