The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation Mark 100th AquaTower Global Milestone in Indonesia
The 100th AquaTower will provide safe drinking water access for students and surrounding communities while marking 15 years of global partnership impact.
A school in Cianjur, Indonesia, is now home to the 100th AquaTower supported by The Starbucks Foundation through its partnership with Planet Water Foundation. The installation will provide safe drinking water access to more than 400 students at SDN Kebunjer school and approximately 1,800 people in the surrounding community.
The milestone marks 15 years of collaboration between The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation. Since 2011, the partnership has helped expand access to safe water, hygiene education, and disaster response support across 17 markets in Asia and Latin America, reaching as many as 180,000 people worldwide.

Indonesia has played an important role in that journey. The first AquaTower supported through the partnership was installed in Bali in 2011, and today the market is home to the landmark 100th AquaTower
Beyond the installation itself, Starbucks Indonesia partners (employees) joined hygiene education activities designed to help students, teachers, families, and community members build healthy habits around handwashing and safe water use.

The Cianjur project reflects the partnership’s broader impact over the years. Together, The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation have installed water systems, delivered hygiene education programs, and supported emergency response efforts following natural disasters across multiple communities.
In Indonesia alone, the partnership has now supported 19 safe water systems, including the new AquaTower in Cianjur. Combined with disaster-response initiatives, the collaboration has contributed to 21 safe water projects across the market, helping strengthen community resilience when it is needed most.

As the 100th AquaTower, supported by The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation, the installation in Cianjur represents a shared commitment to expanding access to safe water and helping communities thrive for generations to come.
