Irish Cream Cold Brew is back

Beginning Tuesday, December 1, Starbucks customers can enjoy the returning favorite Irish Cream Cold Brew. Back for <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2019/introducing-irish-cream-cold-brew/">its second holiday season</a>, the beverage is made with Starbucks® Cold Brew coffee and Irish cream syrup over ice, topped with a frothy cap of vanilla sweet cream cold foam like a layer of fresh snow and a dusting of cocoa powder. It is available at Starbucks stores across the U.S. and Canada for a limited time, while supplies last.

Customers can also enjoy their favorites including the new Irish Cream Cold Brew without leaving home through&nbsp;Starbucks® Delivers on Uber Eats. Starbucks recognizes front-line responders with free coffee all month long

In response to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and to recognize the significant efforts of the front-line responder and health care community, Starbucks announced today that it will offer a free tall brewed coffee (hot or iced) to front-line responders at participating U.S. Starbucks stores throughout the month of December to show appreciation for those keeping our communities safe during COVID-19. Starbucks for Life returns for the sixth year

The Starbucks for Life game is back for its sixth year. From December 1 through January 4, Starbucks Rewards members can play for the chance to win more than 2.5 million prizes ranging from free coffee and exclusive Starbucks merchandise, to the grand prize of Starbucks for Life!

Giving back for Giving Tuesday and World AIDS Day

On December 1, in recognition of Giving Tuesday and World AIDS Day, The Starbucks Foundation will donate $500,000 to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS with (RED). The donation will support the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response, which aims to strengthen health systems and mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on AIDS programs. These funds will help protect the extraordinary gains the global health community has made in the fight against AIDS and ensure continued access to life-saving treatment and services.

This donation builds on Starbucks prior efforts to support the global fight against AIDS. Inspiration for a new Starbucks beverage can come from anywhere. A flavor, a feeling, a flicker of memory.

For Erin Marinan, product developer for Starbucks R&amp;D, it was a bit of all three. Tasked with concepting a new beverage for Starbucks, she drew from memories of making homemade Irish cream with her family, blending up creamy batches to add to coffee or give to loved ones as a gift. It sparked the idea for a beverage with classic Irish cream flavors perfect for a time of celebration and giving. 

Starting Dec. 3, customers at participating stores in the United States and Canada can enjoy Starbucks newest holiday beverage, Starbucks® Irish Cream Cold Brew. The beverage is made with Starbucks Cold Brew coffee and Irish cream syrup over ice, topped with a frothy cap of vanilla sweet cream cold foam like a layer of fresh snow and a dusting of cocoa powder. The flavors of vanilla and cocoa perfectly complement the smooth cold brew to create a deliciously festive beverage. (In Canada, customers can also try a hot version with the <a href="https://stories.starbucks.ca/en/stories/2019/irish-cream/">Irish Cream Americano</a>.)

“It pairs so well with cold brew because of the chocolate flavor in the Irish cream and the cocoa notes from the coffee,” Marinan said. “I think about that customer who’s in the middle of work or shopping, and this will help get them into the holiday spirit for the rest of the day.”

The hottest trend in cold coffee

Cold coffee continues to be a hot trend, even in the <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2019/iced-coffee-and-urban-moose-life-at-the-northernmost-starbucks-on-the-planet/">most wintry weather</a>, part of a cold beverage lineup that now makes up more than half of U.S. Starbucks beverage sales. And cold foam, first introduced <a href="https://news.starbucks.com/news/video-inside-starbucks-reserve-roastery-and-tasting-room">in Starbucks Roastery locations in 2014</a>, has been an inventive addition atop beverages in Starbucks stores <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2018/introducing-cold-foam-at-starbucks/">since April 2018</a>, starting with Cold Foam Cascara Cold Brew, and followed by the sweet and savory Salted Cream Cold Brew that July. This fall brought the new <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2019/starbucks-declares-the-first-day-of-fall-with-return-of-psl-and-new-pumpkin-cream-cold-brew/">Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew</a>, the first new pumpkin coffee beverage since Pumpkin Spice Latte launched in 2003, and an instant hit with customers.

“Cold foam has been key for us from the innovation side of product development,” Marinan said. “It highlights our coffee craft with a great creamy texture and those beautiful layers. It's adding a little bit of flavor in a way that's unique to Starbucks.”

Get in the spirit with Happy Hour

Starbucks is celebrating the season of giving in December with weekly Happy Hours in participating stores in the United States and Canada.
