Coffee with Community
Coffee with Community
At Starbucks, we have deep appreciation for the police officers who are committed to keeping our communities safe.
Since 2011, we’ve proudly joined with law enforcement through the Coffee with a Cop program, which our partners brought to our stores in order to foster direct communication between our Starbucks partners and police officers. Over the years, the program has evolved, and in 2017, we announced we were partnering with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Major Cities Chiefs Association to expand the events. Since then, we’ve supported more than 1,500 Coffee with a Cop events.
Each gathering brings police, customers and Starbucks partners together to help build community through conversation, understanding and empathy. While National Coffee with a Cop Day occurs one day in October each year, these events happen year-round in Starbucks stores.
Since 2015, we’ve partnered with our hometown Seattle Police Department in its Safe Place Program, founded by a police officer, where store partners are trained in providing safe and secure places for those who have experienced anti-LGBTQ-related harassment. Today, the program has broadened to include other markets. We’re also working with law enforcement to identify best practices intended to assist retailers and others who provide space to the public.
