Jimmy’s 2016 Rituals to Improve Wellness

The founder of Evolution Fresh has been committed to healthy living and inspiring others for more than three decades, when he began selling his juices on the beaches of Santa Monica, California. Here are three tips from Jimmy:

Drink green juice daily: I love to point people towards incorporating green juice into their daily lives and ask them to pay close attention to how it makes them feel. By making your own juice at home, blending a smoothie with a mix of seasonal fruit, spinach and kale, nut milks and superfoods or grabbing a cold-pressed green juice; making green juice a part of your daily routine is an easy way to get more vegetables and nutrients in your diet. Taking this small step in the morning helps set the tone for your day, and more nurturing choices are bound to follow throughout the day. 

Get moving: Adding some form of movement into your daily routine is so important, not just for your body, but also for your mood and focus. If you are trying to begin a new habit, I recommend finding an activity that you enjoy. Do not underestimate a simple, sustainable start. Taking a short walk can be a good way to establish a ritual that you build on over time. There is also great benefit in adding stretch sessions or yoga to your routine. If you are looking for a new activity, enroll in a class at a gym or getting guidance from a fitness trainer is a great way to get inspired.

Be present and practice an attitude of gratitude: In a world where smartphones and social media are a constant source of distraction, make sure the first person you check in with each day is you. Before the hustle of the day starts, take a moment to be present and set an intention for the day. Each morning, think of three things you are grateful for. I find that this attitude of gratitude helps inspire me to carry this positive and appreciative tone into the day ahead. Another way to be mindful and become present is to practice five-minute mediations. Take a series of deep, intentional breaths to bring your awareness within.
