A Better Cup of Coffee at Home with New Starbucks Verismo
It started with the bean. When Paul Camera, director of Global Equipment Development for Starbucks, began work on the next generation for the Verismo® System by Starbucks, he first reached out to Anthony Carroll on the Starbucks coffee team.
“We always start by working with the coffee team to understand the flavor profile they are looking for,” Camera said. “Then it’s up to us to develop a machine that best expresses the flavor of each coffee blend.”
Carroll said the espresso should be assertive, with a caramelly sweetness in the cup. Brewed coffee should have balanced, distinct flavors. “House Blend always has to have balance, while Pike Place Roast should be smooth and subtle,” Carroll said. “You should be able to instantly recognize the coffee as Starbucks.”
Customers can experience the result of a collaboration between Starbucks coffee team and equipment developers with the new Verismo® System by Starbucks. The new system is on sale at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada, and online at Verisimo.com. The single-serve system delivers a premium Starbucks brewed coffee and espresso experience, which includes the Verismo® V Brewer, Verismo® Milk Frother and an expanded selection of Verismo® pods.
The Verismo V System uses dual-pressure Swiss engineering to bring deep flavor, rich crema and the complexity of coffee served in Starbucks cafés. The new Verismo V Brewer offers a sleek updated design featuring:
- A larger cup of brewed coffee (now 10 fluid ounces)
- Quieter operation
- Adjustable drip tray that can accommodate a variety of mug sizes
- A larger water reservoir conveniently located on the side of the brewer.
- Quick heat up, in only 15 seconds
Complementing the Verismo V Brewer is the Verismo® Milk Frother, which customers can use to create rich hot or cold foam for a range of espresso beverages – from creamy caffè lattes to cappuccinos.
Customers have even more choices in brewed and espresso Verismo coffee pods available at Starbucks stores. Customers can now find Colombia Nariño espresso, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe espresso and Decaf Pike Place® Roast brewed coffee at participating Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada.
“I love the coffee quality and convenience together. It’s really unmatched,” Carroll said.
