Add a hint of sweet orange and cold foamed milk to this frothy favorite.
Elevate the classic Americano with orange syrup, frothy milk, and a sprinkling of Demerara sugar.
For orange syrup
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- peel (or zest) from half an orange
For Americano con Crema
- ⅓ cup 2% milk
- 1 tablespoon orange syrup\
- 4oz espresso (we recommend Starbucks® Espresso Roast)
- 2oz hot water
- Demerara sugar - optional
Make the syrup:
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add water, sugar and orange peel. Stir occasionally for 5 minutes or until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain into a container. Store unused sugar syrup in an airtight container, refrigerated. Good for a few weeks.
Make the Americano:
Add milk to blender and blend on high for two minutes. Let sit for one minute. In a medium-sized mug, add syrup, espresso and hot water. Top with a few spoonfuls of milk froth. Sprinkle with sugar (optional) and enjoy.
