UPDATE: Starbucks Statement on Attack in Jakarta, Indonesia

We convey our deepest sympathies to the families who lost loved ones in the Jakarta attack. Starbucks condemns the violence and commends the resiliency of the Indonesian people.

We would like to recognize our Starbucks Skyline store partners (employees) in Jakarta for their bravery and are extremely thankful that our 10 partners were uninjured. We are also hopeful that a heroic security guard and four customers who are injured will have speedy recoveries.

While the Skyline store will remain closed for repairs in the short-term, all other Starbucks stores across Indonesia opened on time Friday and are continuing to operate according to normal schedules.

Starbucks would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Jakarta police and other first responders for their professionalism and heroism. We will continue to work closely with local authorities and respect their request to defer to them regarding any additional insight or further updates on what transpired.

We remain vigilant and resolute in taking the steps necessary to provide a safe and secure place at our stores worldwide.
