Starbucks Foundation Donates $100,000 for Oso Mudslide Relief

(March 27, 2014) We want to express our heartfelt concern for everyone who has been affected by the devastating impact of the mudslide in Oso, Washington.

As part of our commitment to help the communities we live in and serve, Starbucks is donating to disaster relief efforts. Immediately, $50,000 will be directed to the American Red Cross while an additional $50,000 will support the United Way of Snohomish County Recovery Fund for long term rebuilding efforts.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the tragic Oso mudslide and with the hundreds of emergency personnel who are selflessly responding to this disaster,” said Rodney Hines, executive director of the Starbucks Foundation and director of community investments for Starbucks.

Starbucks and its partners (employees) are also donating food, water and coffee for the men and women working around the clock in support of recovery efforts.

If you would like to get involved, donations are being accepted through the American Red Cross and United Way. To lend your support to the Red Cross, you can text “REDCROSS” to 90999* to donate $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief or visit the American Red Cross website. The United Way of Snohomish County has also established a Disaster Recovery Fund for Mudslide Relief to assist those affected by the mudslide.
