Exclusive Starbucks Dot Collection and 100 Starbucks Cards Arrive for the Holidays

SEATTLE (Nov. 12, 2014) – Starbucks Coffee Company today ushered in the return of the Holiday season in Starbucks® stores nationwide. Starbucks is introducing a Holiday season unlike any other in its history. Focusing on personalization, giftability and beloved traditions, Starbucks is a place for customers to find a perfect gift, enjoy a respite from the busy shopping season and connect with people they care about.

“In response to changing consumer behaviors, as well as insight on, and feedback into our customers, Starbucks is taking a radically different approach to holiday this year,” said Sharon Rothstein, chief marketing officer at Starbucks. “We’ve completely reimagined the holiday experience in our stores, while staying true to some of our time-honored traditions. So many of our customers count on Starbucks for their holiday experiences, and we are pleased to play a small role in making the holidays so special. And, more so than ever, Starbucks is the ultimate gifting destination where you can find something for everyone on your list, including yourself.”

Personal Gifting Made Easy As Only Starbucks Can

Making it easier than ever to conveniently find affordable and personal gifts, Starbucks is debuting the Starbucks® Dot Collection 2014 and the Starbucks Card Collection just in time to kick off the Holiday season.

Starbucks introduced Starbucks Cards in 2001 as a way for customers to engage with each other through the gift of coffee. The popularity and success of the Starbucks Card continues to distinguish Starbucks with customers and further differentiates the company from competitors. Since the Starbucks Card launched in 2001, more than $18 billion has been loaded onto Starbucks Cards. Through the years, the status of Starbucks Cards has grown from a popular stored-value card to a significant method of payment in participating Starbucks® stores. Last year, one in eight U.S. adults received a Starbucks Card during the holidays. Today, the Starbucks Card is available for customers in 29 countries and has been offered in hundreds of designs.

This year, Starbucks is introducing a new Starbucks Card Collection, offering more than 100 different gift card designs, from classic holiday themes to monograms and more, from Starbucks in-house creative studio. As with the Dot Collection, this Card Collection offers an unprecedented level of choice for customers, and will be displayed through a card wall in stores to encourage exploration of all the designs available.

For ultimate Starbucks fans looking for a premium gift, Starbucks is offering a Limited Edition Sterling Silver Starbucks Card. This Card is a beautifully-crafted, fully-functional gift card, made with premium 925 Sterling Silver and engraved with the Starbucks logo. Already sold out online, the Card comes preloaded with $50, retails for $200 and is only available in limited quantities at select Starbucks® stores nationwide, while supplies last.

The National Retail Federation is expecting that online holiday sales will grow between 8-11 percent this year. In light of that, Starbucks is also building out a meaningful online experience to complement its in-store experience. Customers will be able to browse the full Starbucks® Dot Collection and select their perfect gift, all from the comfort of online shopping – 24 hours a day. In addition, Starbucks is introducing select online exclusive offers for customers including artwork inspired by the Starbucks Dot Collection, as well as premium coffee subscriptions.

Celebrating Traditions and Making New Ones

The much-anticipated return of iconic red Starbucks® cups makes Starbucks the perfect place to celebrate, meet and make memories this season. To celebrate existing traditions and develop new ones, Starbucks is introducing a new limited time holiday beverage for the first time in five years. The Chestnut Praline Latte is inspired by the time-honored holiday tradition of warm roasted chestnuts, featuring Starbucks® signature espresso combined with freshly steamed milk and flavors of caramelized chestnuts and spices, finished with whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs. The Chestnut Praline Latte joins Starbucks beloved holiday trio this year, alongside the Caramel Brulée Latte and Peppermint Mocha. Additionally, due to customer response and demand, Starbucks is also bringing the cherished Eggnog Latte and the Gingerbread Latte to customers across the U.S. and Canada just in time for the holidays.

To celebrate the spirit of the season, Starbucks invites customers to bring a friend to participating stores in the U.S. on Nov. 12-16 from 2-5 p.m. to receive a free holiday beverage when purchasing a holiday beverage of equal or greater value.

Starbucks® Christmas Blend, a limited-edition customer and partner (employee) favorite turns 30 this year. Crafting Christmas Blend each season is a long-cherished tradition at Starbucks, starting with bright Latin American coffees, and blending in Indonesian coffee beans from Sumatra, aged three to five years, for that signature spice, allowing it to develop, spicy, cedary and syrupy notes.

Starbucks continues to expand coffee offerings into different formats and points of sale, now offering Starbucks Christmas Blend in stores, online, and in the grocery aisle. It is available in whole bean, ground, K-Cup®, Starbucks VIA® Instant and Verismo® pods. Starbucks® Christmas Blend, Starbucks® Christmas Espresso Blend, Starbucks® Decaf Christmas Blend and Starbucks® Holiday Blend will be available in Starbucks® retail locations in 8 oz. packaging, making it the perfect hostess gift.

Customers can enjoy their favorite Starbucks® holiday treats such as the Peppermint Brownie Cake Pop, Frosted Snowman Cookie and Cranberry Bliss® Bar – a perfect sweet treat to enjoy with a festive beverage. New this season is a Holiday Turkey and Stuffing Panini made with roasted turkey, cranberry and herb stuffing and rich turkey gravy served on warm, toasted focaccia bread.
