Starbucks Turns (RED) This Holiday Season
SEATTLE, November 16, 2009 - Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) celebrates the holidays and gives customers an opportunity to shop at Starbucks and give back. For a limited time, customers can turn any purchase (RED)™ by spending $15 in a participating Starbucks store in the U.S. and Canada and Starbucks will contribute $1 U.S. to the Global Fund. As a thank you, while supplies last, customers will receive a complimentary "All You Need Is Love" limited time offer CD, featuring Starbucks and (RED)™ exclusive tracks from John Legend, U2, Dave Matthews Band and Playing for Change.
"We're proud to offer Starbucks customers the chance to turn their daily purchase (RED) and be a part of making a significant contribution to the Global Fund," said Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman, president and ceo. "To date, less than a year after launching our partnership with (PRODUCT)RED, Starbucks has generated contributions equaling more than 6 million daily doses of antiretroviral medicine through the purchase of select (STARBUCKS)RED products to help those living with HIV in Africa."
"Through this successful partnership, Starbucks is giving their customers the opportunity to do good every day through their (RED) purchase – it all adds up," said Susan Smith Ellis, CEO, (RED). "(RED) partners and events have already contributed more than $138 million to the Global Fund and this money has supported AIDS programs in Africa that have reached more than 4 million people. We've seen firsthand how this investment helps expand the capabilities of national AIDS programs and how it can literally transform people's lives through access to proper treatment and care."
Also launching on November 17 is the www.Starbucksloveproject.com, a website where customers can explore the "All You Need Is Love" CD, view exclusive videos, and contribute a drawing to the ââ¬ËLove Gallery', resulting in a five cent U.S. contribution from Starbucks to the Global Fund.

In honor of its 25th anniversary, Starbucks® Christmas Blend will be available while supplies last in a special 25-ounce size at all company operated stores in the U.S., ideal for holiday parties or brewing at home every day.
Fulfill Wish Lists
Starbucks is the perfect and convenient gift destination for everyone on your list. For customers traveling for the holidays, entertaining guests or simply treating themselves to an exceptional cup of coffee, Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew (now available in decaffeinated Italian Roast) is just the right fit. The small packages fit nicely in a stocking and can easily be paired with a Starbucks Card or other holiday merchandise.
Each season our customers look forward to the highly coveted seasonal Starbucks Card designs. In addition to the seasonal Cards, Starbucks collaborated with designer Christian Siriano who created a mini Starbucks Card, giving customers a chic way to purchase their coffee. Following in the footsteps of the successful (STARBUCKS)RED Card launched last winter, Starbucks will also begin offering a new (STARBUCKS)RED Card and a mini (STARBUCKS)RED Card this holiday season. Each time a customer pays for their purchase at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada with either Card through December 31, 2010, Starbucks will contribute 5 cents U.S. to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
