Starbucks does not use prison or forced labor of any kind and has a zero-tolerance policy on the use of child, prison or forced labor from suppliers.
Our company’s success is directly linked to the success of the farmers and suppliers who grow and produce our products. This not only applies to our direct suppliers, but also to all contractors and subcontractors in which we do business with. Our Supplier Social Responsibility Standards, which have been in place since 2006, make clear we do not tolerate the use of forced or involuntary labor.
To verify compliance with our standards, suppliers must allow both announced and unannounced inspections of their records and facilities by Starbucks or an approved third party. If a supplier is found to be in violation of our policy, we first attempt to work with them to implement a corrective action plan. However, gross violations or illegal activities are cause for outright and immediate termination of our business relationship.
