Starbucks Launches Mercato Lunch Menu in Sacramento
Beginning in May 2018, more than 200 Starbucks® stores in the Sacramento area will offer the new Mercato lunch menu, which features vibrant, hearty grab-and-go salads, sandwiches and sides made fresh daily and donated nightly to the Sacramento Food Bank, Placer Food Bank and Yolo Food Bank through Starbucks FoodShare.
Mercato is Italian for “marketplace,” a vibrant center of fresh food and ingredients, which provided the inspiration for the Mercato menu. Starbucks chefs created what customers have asked for: a fresh and hearty lunch that is made to satisfy, sustain and meet a variety of dietary lifestyles, from high protein to vegetarian to vegan.
Each menu item has been thoughtfully prepared with handpicked, natural ingredients, including breads and cheeses, vegetables, and grains and greens carefully combined so that every bite is full of flavor. Using Starbucks-developed recipes, the Mercato menu is crafted in a local kitchen and delivered fresh daily to Starbucks stores in the area. Read more about the Mercato menu creation and inspiration.
All Mercato items are priced under $10 before tax and menu selection will vary by store location. View the full Mercato menu here.
Starbucks FoodShare
Starbucks FoodShare is a partnership with Feeding America that donates Starbucks surplus food at the end of the day to a local food bank. Starbucks has set a goal to rescue 100 percent of food available to donate from its more than 8,000 U.S. company-operated stores. Since its launch in summer 2016, Starbucks FoodShare program has donated more than 5 million meals. By 2020, when the program is fully up to scale, Starbucks expects to donate more than 50 million meals each year.
Mercato Availability
Mercato is now available in a total of more than 200 stores in the greater Seattle area and more than 200 stores in Chicago, and we are seeing a benefit to overall lunch sales in those stores. In April, Starbucks recently launch Mercato in more than 250 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area.
