Hans Melotte is executive vice president, president Starbucks Global Channel Development. In his role, Hans is responsible for leading the Starbucks business and brand experience outside of the company’s retail stores. Global Channel Development brings Starbucks to homes and on-the-go through Consumer Packaged Goods (at-home coffee & ready-to-drink) and Foodservice, available in more than 65 markets.
Hans leads the growth and execution of the Global Coffee Alliance with Nestlé, focused on bringing Starbucks premium coffee and tea products to consumers around the world. He and his team are also responsible for leading the growth and development of Starbucks global ready-to-drink partnerships, including the North America Coffee Partnership with PepsiCo and Evolution Fresh businesses, among many others around the world.
Prior to this role, Hans was responsible for Starbucks end-to-end supply chain, as well as quality and food safety operations globally. Before joining Starbucks in June 2016, Hans spent more than 25 years in a variety of leadership roles in multiple regions with highly respected companies and consumer brands. This included serving as the Johnson & Johnson Chief Procurement Officer, and roles at Procter & Gamble and Coopers & Lybrand.
Originally from Belgium, Hans holds a master’s degree in business from the University of Louvain near Brussels. In 2010 he was honored as Procurement Leader of the Year and in 2013 was named one of the Top 10 Most Influential and Thought Leader CPOs in the United States. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Supply Management from 2014-2018 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 World Procurement Awards. He is currently a Director on the Board of Directors of LeadersUp, a non-profit organization that connects Opportunity Youth job seekers with potential employers.
Hans enjoys running, cycling, and hiking and lives in Seattle with his wife and two children. His favorite Starbucks beverage is a latte macchiato.
