George Dowdie is executive vice president of Global Supply Chain for Starbucks. He is responsible for Starbucks end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, manufacturing, and distribution, as well as critical quality and food safety initiatives. In this leadership role, George shapes and operationalizes supply chain strategies that enable the Starbucks Experience globally.
Most recently, George served as senior vice president of Global Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory for Starbucks, and was responsible for building and renewing food safety and quality capabilities to support growth, customer satisfaction, and loyalty.
Prior to joining Starbucks in 2013, George was Senior Vice President, Global R&D & Quality for Campbell Soup Company, where he was the senior officer responsible for Campbell’s Research & Development centers across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Earlier in his career, George held leadership roles at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons and Frito-Lay. He has extensive experience in food safety and quality strategy, research and development, new product development and commercialization, innovation management, and new business development across a broad range of consumer products.
George holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Louisiana State University and a B.S. from Tuskegee University. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Business. Outside of work, George enjoys golf, travel, and spending time with his family. His favorite Starbucks beverage is a tall Americano with steamed milk.
