Dominic Carr

executive vice president, chief communications officer

Dominic Carr is executive vice president, chief communications officer for Starbucks, reporting directly to chief executive officer, Laxman Narasimhan. In this role he leads the company’s Global Communications function with responsibility for all of Starbucks communications work, including Corporate, Consumer & Brand, Starbucks Partner (Employee) Communications, International Communications, Branded Events and Starbucks Stories. He is a lead member of the Starbucks Global Brand Council.

Dominic joined Starbucks in January 2024, bringing more than 25 years of communications and marketing experience at major multinational companies. His background includes 18 years at Microsoft, where he began his career in regional roles in Asia, based first in Hong Kong and then in Singapore. He went on to lead the company’s global public affairs team for 10 years, building and executing proactive campaigns on topics critical to Microsoft’s corporate reputation.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Dominic held roles with GE, Ford and for a London-based brand strategy consultancy. He most recently led Lyft’s communications and marketing teams as executive vice president of communications and marketing, serving on Lyft’s executive leadership team.

Originally from the UK, Dominic earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and politics from the University of Sheffield. When he is not at work, Dominic is mostly likely on the sidelines of his son’s soccer game, watching his daughter in a drama performance, or out in the Pacific Northwest countryside with his wife and his family’s pandemic puppy. He has lived in the Seattle area for over 15 years and believes that no day is complete without more than one Americano, hot or cold.
