Mexico City – Supporting communities is a significant part of how Starbucks makes a greater impact and change at scale. This year, as the company has done since 2011, Starbucks Mexico celebrated Global Month of Good during the month of April, uniting more than 10 non-profit organizations such as Parque Ecológico Chipinque, Ríos Limpios A.C, Fundación AMAC, El Tocuz y Giro 180 A.C. among others, and 1,400 partners and customers in over 120 volunteer activities.
As part of its 20th Anniversary celebration, 100% of volunteering actions led by Starbucks in Mexico focused on environmental causes, including cleaning Playa Delfines and Punta Nizuc in Cancún, Quintana Roo; reforestation activities in the Mexico City Xochimilco region; cleaning Parque Lineal and Rivera del Río Pitillal in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; as well as Peña de Bernal slopes in Querétaro and Ecological Park Chipinque in the state of Nuevo León.
“Volunteering has been part of my life since I was young. When I joined Starbucks and discovered how important it is for the company to serve its communities, I knew I belonged here. Nothing describes how we live our values better than helping others through these small actions. They truly nourish my spirit. The Peña de Bernal clean up experience started as a project for my district which includes 14 stores, but suddenly, with the support of incredible people, it became an event of more than 100 volunteers! I am proud to be part of the Starbucks family,” said Azucena Rodríguez, store manager of Ubika Milenio Store, in Querétaro.
For the past 11 years, Starbucks has celebrated Global Month of Good, encouraging partners in Mexico and around the world to strengthen their local communities – in big or small ways – by doing what they do best: inspiring and nurturing the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time.
