Research commissioned as part of the campaign found that nearly eight in ten (79%) UK adults say creativity helps them express themselves.* The campaign celebrates Starbucks coffeehouses as spaces people can share ideas, start side hustles and connect over creative passions, from the first spark of inspiration to something bigger.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cOne of my favourite things about spending time in our coffeehouses is seeing how many different ideas are taking shape around me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/body><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of my favourite things about spending time in our coffeehouses is seeing how many different ideas are taking shape around me,\u201d says Vic Robertson, marketing director, Starbucks UK. \u201cYou might have someone sketching designs in the corner, another person preparing for a pitch meeting and a group of friends discussing a new idea for a side-hustle.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Windows to creativity<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, Starbucks has supported creative communities by providing them with a welcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/stories.starbucks.com\/emea\/stories\/2024\/reclaiming-third-places-our-bold-vision-for-community-stores\/\">\u2018third place\u2019<\/a> to connect, share ideas and enjoy a great coffee. But as part of <em>Made in Starbucks<\/em>, we went a step further. Seven local sign-makers and artists around the UK were given the opportunity to transform their local Starbucks coffeehouse windows for the summer. Their brief was simple: create a design around the slogan \u2018ideas that come from nowhere have to start somewhere\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Manchester, Ellie transformed the windows of Starbucks Mount Street coffeehouse into a mural inspired by the everyday moments that spark her creativity. It portrayed a daydreaming coffee cup caricature surrounded by colourful characters and illustrations bursting into the world around it.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"2560\" src=\"https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-scaled.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Manchester_Ellie-1536x2048.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile in Liverpool, <strong>Victoria Turner<\/strong> set out to capture the city\u2019s rich musical heritage. During lockdown, she began creating artwork to brighten her local community \u2013 a personal passion project that\u2019s now grown into a successful illustration and sign-making business. \u00a0Victoria\u2019s mural on the Starbucks Ranelagh Street coffeehouse featured musical notes in honour of Liverpool\u2019s most famous musicians, The Beatles, alongside leaves and berries inspired by the coffee plant. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"2517\" src=\"https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-72413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-300x295.jpg 300w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-768x755.jpg 768w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-1024x1007.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-1536x1510.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/about.starbucks.com\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/09\/Liverpool_Victoria-2048x2014.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor me, creativity is everywhere,\u201d she says. \u201cIt can come from the places you visit, the people you meet or even a conversation over coffee. It&#8217;s been really special to create something for Starbucks that celebrates that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Creativity in your hand<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The creativity didn&#8217;t stop at coffeehouse windows. In August, The Starbucks Illustration Club offered another canvas \u2013 this time, one you could hold in your hand. People across the UK were invited to pick up a Starbucks cup and make it their own, with illustrations created in pens, pencils, paint and anything else that sparked their imagination.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They could then submit their creation to a panel of four judges that included <strong>Yinka Ilori MBE<\/strong>, an artist and designer renowned for finding creative possibilities in everyday things, and <strong>professional artist and illustrator Rob Draper<\/strong>, whose own creative journey started fittingly close to home.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI used to spend time sketching on cups while sitting in Starbucks coffeehouses, never imagining those early drawings would help shape my career as an illustrator,\u201d Rob reveals. \u201cThe Starbucks Illustration Club shows that creativity doesn&#8217;t always begin in a studio, sometimes it starts with a pen, a coffee and an everyday moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Starbucks Illustration Club\u2019s winning entry came from 36-year-old Manii\u00a0Basran from Ealing, West London. Her design brought Mehndi, the traditional henna art form she has practised for almost 20 years, onto the Starbucks cup. Inspired by the circular shape of\u00a0the Starbucks\u00a0siren logo, she created a mandala\u00a0motif,\u00a0a\u00a0design she regularly uses when adorning brides with henna\u00a0as part of\u00a0their pre-wedding\u00a0rituals celebrating creativity, heritage and culture.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting on the winning submission, artist, designer and Illustration Club judge Yinka Ilori MBE said: <em>&#8220;Design is for everyone, and art is for everyone. This artwork beautifully celebrates the beauty of art as a global language. Taking henna, a very traditional technique, and applying it to a Starbucks cup is genius.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been a huge Starbucks fan for years, so when I saw the Illustration Club competition announced, I knew straight away that I wanted to enter\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/body><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with receiving one-to-one creative mentoring from Yinka, Manii will now see her artwork brought to life as part of a nationwide billboard campaign. I work across the road from my local Starbucks, so I popped over, picked up a cup, took it back to the office and just started creating.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My first thought was &#8216;cone to cup&#8217; and when I looked at the circular Starbucks logo, a mandala felt like the perfect fit. It\u2019s a design I\u2019ve used on brides for years,\u00a0so it felt like a natural way to bring\u00a0my two\u00a0passions\u00a0together. Growing up in\u00a0Ealing,\u00a0West London,\u00a0Mehndi has always been part of the celebrations and traditions around me.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0an art form with such a rich history, so it feels incredibly special to bring something so meaningful to me into a new,\u00a0modern\u00a0and unexpected space.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The good news for UK creative communities is that <em>Made In Starbucks<\/em> is just getting started.\u00a0 Having kicked off with a specially created film featuring musicians, illustrators, writers, producers and poets in our coffeehouses up and down the country, the campaign will continue to support and celebrate creativity in all its forms.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if there\u2019s one thing every artist involved so far has shown, it\u2019s that you don\u2019t always have to know exactly where an idea is going.
