Starbucks India is celebrating the festival of lights with the debut of a new seasonal whole-bean coffee, Starbucks® Diwali Blend, to customers across India and select global markets. Reinforcing Starbucks long-term commitment to the market, the exclusive Starbucks® Diwali Blend honours India’s coffee-growing communities by highlighting new estates each year from India’s rich tradition of expert coffee producers.

Starbucks® Diwali Blend<a> </a>is a tribute to the region’s deep coffee heritage and expertise, made with hand-selected coffee from Valparai, Jumboor and Suntikoppa estates in the verdant hills of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The indulgent and immersive experience was developed specifically for customers in India. This unique blend features a balanced acidity, warm notes of cocoa, a syrupy body with notes of chocolate and hints of spice and stone fruit.

The package design depicts themes of light and illumination, with images of lanterns and elaborate traditional patterns. The central rangoli pattern reflects the symbolic triumph of good over evil and embodies the spirit of Diwali, the most auspicious day of the year in India. Starbucks® Diwali Blend is the second Starbucks whole bean coffee to be entirely sourced, roasted and packaged in India, following the launch of Starbucks® India Estates Blend in 2013.

To overcome the challenges associated with creating a new coffee during COVID-19, Starbucks collaborated remotely with the local coffee team to trial, develop and roast Starbucks® Diwali Blend. From different coordinates across the globe, the team successfully sampled different combinations together before landing on the final blend. This is Starbucks first coffee blend that’s been created remotely.

Tata Starbucks is creating more opportunities for women partners (employees) to demonstrate their leadership in the workplace as part of its ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

Today, Tata Starbucks Private Limited proudly announced two stores in India operated entirely by women, with the number of all female led stores to double by the end of the year. The stores reaffirm Tata Starbucks ongoing commitment to promoting an inclusive and diverse workforce by empowering women leaders. The first store is located in the heart of Delhi city at Shivaji Stadium, while the second, Commerz II, Mumbai, is located along the Western Express Highway, in the heart of Goregaon.

Both stores are managed by women, and will deliver a premium Starbucks Experience that celebrates connections through coffee – a key pillar of Tata Starbucks business strategy.

Since entering the market in 2012, Tata Starbucks has honoured its commitment to grow the representation of women in the workforce and encourage a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. In 2019, Tata Starbucks achieved 100 percent gender pay equity and continues to create opportunities for all partners to shine in leadership roles. One of Tata Starbucks diversity initiatives, Brew of Balance, creates opportunities for women returning to the workforce from maternity leave, career break, offers more flexibility, including a five-day work schedule, childcare assistance, access to the Women Inclusion Network @ Starbucks platform, as well as family and sabbatical leave. In addition, Tata Starbucks was the first food and beverage retailer in India to deploy a five-day work schedule, offering partners greater flexibility and time for self-development.

Today, women make up 28 percent of Tata Starbucks workforce. The company established an internal Women’s Inclusion Network @ Starbucks platform to further advance gender diversity and provide support to women in India to help them further excel in their careers. The new all-women stores are another significant step toward creating meaningful opportunities for women in leadership within the company and an important part of our efforts to achieving 40 percent gender diversity by the end of 2022.

Like all Starbucks stores across India, the new stores follow the best practices related to safety and hygiene to ensure a safe, familiar and convenient experience for partners and customers.

Tata Starbucks Private Limited today announced its entry into the rich and dynamic culture Lucknow with two new store openings, bringing the premium Starbucks Experience to more customers across India. The two new stores are located at Phoenix Palassio Mall and Vibhuti Khand in Gomti Nagar. India is one of Starbucks fastest growing markets globally, and with this expansion, Tata Starbucks now has a presence across 12 cities at 189 stores.

The new stores were designed with Lucknow’s rich and authentic culture in mind, reflecting the diverse heritage of the city alongside a deep passion for coffee. Honouring the traditions and craftsmanship of Lucknow – Chikankari, an ancient form of embroidery – is used in Phoenix Palassio store designs and feature artwork. The colourful art is inspired by the harvesting methods of Indian farmers and depicts various growing stages of a coffee plant, from flowering to ripening of the coffee cherries.

The design of the Gomti Nagar store is also inspired by the landscapes of India’s coffee growing regions. From the entry to the interiors, undulating wood fins echo the mountainous forms of a coffee farm. The whimsical shapes and art that feature on the wall inside the store are created through a fusion of Chikankari and Zardosi; a dense sewing technique in Lucknow which incorporates ornate gold embellishments. For a more modern approach, colourful beads are used to work in harmony with the overall aesthetics of the store.

Today, Tata Starbucks Private Limited announced the opening of its first drive-thru store in India at Dhillon Plaza, Ambala Chandigarh Expressway, Singhpura in Zirakpur. The milestone demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market, where it now has 187 stores, and vision of offering more ways for customers in India to enjoy the Starbucks Experience.

“Tata Starbucks has had an incredible journey in India, and we are proud to have achieved yet another milestone. The opening of our first drive-thru store showcases our commitment to evolving our brand and business in India to provide new and meaningful experiences to our customers,” said Navin Gurnaney, ceo, Tata Starbucks Pvt. The drive-thru format offers added convenience for customers who want to pick up their orders from their car, or travelers on the go. Located next to the Chandigarh-Ambala highway, customers can also stop for a quick break to enjoy their Starbucks favourites in the café, with two levels of in-store seating, free Wi-Fi, Starbucks merchandise available for purchase, and the same wide range of menu items available at other Starbucks locations across India. At the drive-thru window, a Starbucks partner will greet each customer and take their order, adding an element of warmth to the experience.

Achievement celebrates Tata Starbucks 7th anniversary in India, reaffirming commitment to growth and progressive impact for Indians

Today, Tata Starbucks Private Limited announced that women now make up 29 percent of its workforce, a key gender diversity milestone toward its goal to achieve 40 percent gender diversity by 2022. Tata Starbucks continues to promote opportunity for women within the company, boosting the share of female partners (employees) from 14 percent in FY14 to 29 percent in FY19, a figure that continues to grow. 

In addition, Tata Starbucks announced it has achieved 100 percent pay equity for women and men, a landmark accomplishment that demonstrates Starbucks commitment to gender equality globally. Starbucks pay equity principles are based on equal footing, transparency, and accountability. Tata Starbucks continues to create opportunities for female partners through an ongoing series of initiatives focused on an inclusive and diverse workforce to drive business growth
