Starbucks Vietnam opens its first Signing Store in Ho Chi Minh City

September 8, 2026

Starbucks Vietnam has opened its first Signing Store, a coffeehouse dedicated to the Deaf, hard of hearing, and sign language communities. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, Starbucks Cao Thắng was designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind and features a team that includes Deaf and hard of hearing baristas proudly wearing the iconic green apron.

The Signing Store reflects Starbucks Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening communities, expanding economic opportunities, and creating positive impact through partnerships with local nonprofit organizations. To support these efforts, a percentage of sales from the store will be donated over the next two years to training programs operated by the Youth Social Work Club.

A Coffeehouse Designed for Connection

Located on a quiet street in Ho Chi Minh City, the Signing Store transforms a French colonial house into a welcoming third place for the community. The coffeehouse combines warm wood tones, natural light, and tactile design features to create an inviting space that encourages connection and celebrates belonging.

A highlight of the coffeehouse is a painting created by Deaf artist Linh Đan. Through her artistic expression, the piece reflects the shared values of equity, accessibility, and belonging that define the Starbucks experience.

To support seamless communication between customers and Deaf partners (employees), orders can be placed using tablets, while a digital screen in the hand-off area displays orders status. These design elements help create a welcoming environment where everyone can interact comfortably.

Exclusive Merchandise Inspired by Sign Language

To commemorate the opening of its first Signing Store, Starbucks Vietnam has introduced an exclusive merchandise collection available only at Starbucks Cao Thắng. The collection’s artwork draws inspiration from sign language and celebrates the spirit of connection with the Deaf community, inviting customers to learn more about its culture, experiences, and stories.

As Starbucks Vietnam looks ahead, the company aims to continue working alongside community partners to expand opportunities for engagement, raise awareness of Deaf culture, and help foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
