Starbucks partners with Planet Water Foundation to celebrate Global Handwashing Day 2023
Starbucks is committed to contribute positively to the communities it serves. On this Global Handwashing Day, an international moment dedicated to increasing awareness and education on the importance of personal hygiene to prevent diseases and save lives, Starbucks has partnered with Planet Water Foundation, a non-profit organization, to provide clean water access and hygiene programs to communities around the world. Through this long-term partnership supported by The Starbucks Foundation since 2011, 57 AquaTowers have been constructed globally, including seven markets across Asia Pacific, providing up to 102,600 people with access to clean water.
This year, The Starbucks Foundation supported Planet Water Foundation to provide access to clean, safe drinking water and handwashing stations for communities including Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Starbucks partners (employees) in each market volunteered to help assemble and install the AquaTowers alongside Planet Water Foundation. Volunteers also led hygiene education activities with local students and teachers in the community.
