Roastery-inspired tea innovation arrives at Starbucks in Tokyo

On July 1, Starbucks will expand its exclusive tea offerings in Japan with a broad lineup of colorful and aromatic teas at the newly reopened Starbucks Coffee Roppongi Hills Metro Hat/Hollywood Plaza Store in downtown Tokyo.

Since Starbucks opened its first store in Japan in 1996, it has reimagined local tea favorites like Matcha and Hojicha through Starbucks signature lattes and Frappuccino® blended beverages. These new ways to experience tea have taken root as part of Japan’s modern tea culture and laid the foundation for Starbucks continuous innovation into the world of tea.

With creations inspired by the popular TEAVANA Bar on the second floor of the Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo, the newly reopened store offers customers a chance to relax with unique beverages featuring high-quality tea and brightly-colored fruit, as well as classic Starbucks espresso favorites.

NEW TEAVANA BEVERAGES

Yuzu & Citrus Lavender Sage Tea: A sophisticated medley of fresh citrus and grapefruit jelly in a base of TEAVANA Citrus Lavender Sage Tea, which features the refreshing aroma of sage, flavor of sweet pineapples and oranges, and subtle aftertaste of sage and lavender. Available hot or iced.

Strawberry & Passion Tea: A tart ruby-red blend of hibiscus, cinnamon, dried apple, licorice and lemongrass, with strawberry pulp and freeze-dried strawberry. Enjoy the combination of herbal aroma and bright strawberries. Available iced, or blended with cream.

Wasanbon Matcha Tea Latte: Made with the same premium Kyoto Uji Matcha used at Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo, as well as milk and fine-grained Wasanbon sugar, a traditional ingredient used in Japanese sweets.  Enjoy the authentic Matcha aroma and the gentle, elegant sweetness of Wasanbon sugar.  Available hot or iced.
